Salary for Announcement The salary rate for this position is $21/hr.
The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary The Student Success Coach reports to the Program Director of Pathways to Possible and serves as the main point of contact for students as a part of the Pathways to Possible program. The Success Coach will counsel, motivate, and use best-practices grounded in current retention theories for intrusive advising, academic support, and program management. The Success Coach will work with program participants throughout the student cycle (i.e. admission through graduation) by overseeing systems and processes to address student success and retention. The Success Coach will collaborate with MSU Denver Admissions Office, Office of Financial Aid, Academic Advising and other internal offices to ensure a successful transition and connection to the university.
The Temp Student Success Coach is a temporary funded position for up to 9 months or until a full time position is hired Duties/Responsibilities Direct Support to Students - Collaborate with the Student Support and Retention team, and university partners to implement comprehensive support for Pathways to Possible program participants.
- Fosters persistence and completion with program participants by maintaining a caseload of first time in college students, freshman to senior level.
- Monitors progress of students in caseload with check-ins, scheduled meetings or proactive outreach and communication, responding to students' questions, concerns and needs
- Conducts academic coaching through individual or group sessions that help students assess their own performance and develop academic success plans.
- Assists students in developing self-efficacy by identifying and overcoming obstacles that may be impeding academic success
- Works with students to learn strong time management and organization skills; motivates students to practice self-regulation and take ownership of their academic success
- Helps students in identifying, developing and implementing learning strategies and study skills specific to course materials.
- Refers students to appropriate academic personnel and support resources and collaborates with others to monitor and accelerate the academic progress of the students referred.
- Support program participants with programming opportunities
Support student success using online systems: - Use a variety of technologies to create meaningful interactions and support for students.
- Use institutional and internal reporting to identify at-risk program participants and risk factors, monitor student progress and provide proactive support.
- Collaborate with academic advisors and cross-campus partners on related initiatives.
- In this role, the student success coach will create content, update processes and facilitate a positive student experience
Programming and Administration: - Work to improve program systems and develop initiatives that encourage student engagement with academic success resources and student development opportunities.
- Work with Project Director, the Student Support team, and internal and cross-campus colleagues, including advisors and department contacts, to develop and implement programmatic interventions to support the academic success and retention of program participants
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or progress toward a bachelor's degree
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Strong customer service skills
- Desire to assist students in their journey through out college

- Experience establishing and maintaining positive, collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and staff, to work as a valuable team player, as well as function independently while managing and prioritizing multiple job assignments

Work Hours 8-5 with some evening and weekend work required
Hybrid: In person 3 days a week, remote 2 days
