JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Web Developer provides a lead role in designing, coding, testing and implementing websites and web applications using current standard methodologies and responsive design techniques. They will also be responsible for troubleshooting issues, testing and validating new features, and following MDRT’s change management processes. This person will work in an open, collaborative environment within our existing Digital Experience team while communicating and collaborating with technical and non-technical personnel to understand and define user needs; gathering and analyzing data; and documenting the recommended solutions. A key element of this position is to drive and continue the process of migrating support and development from external consultants to MDRT staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

A. Design, code, test, and implement web sites and applications using current standard methodologies and responsive design techniques.

B. Work within the Optimizely (formerly Episerver) framework to resolve issues, enhance existing functions and create new web functions and pages

C. Communicate and collaborate with technical and non-technical personnel to understand and define user needs, gather and analyze data and document the recommended solutions.

D. Drive the effort to bring support and development activities in-house from external consultants.

E. Perform needs analyses and assessments to determine systems methodology best suited to end-user goals

F. Work closely with staff members and consultants to plan and implement projects for using web systems within an overall project design.

G. Manage regular content and functionality pushes to the web, including testing and validation, troubleshooting any issues, and following change management processes.

H. Research, evaluate, and recommend new tools and applications.

I. Create or revise technical documentation to aid in future development and troubleshooting.

J. Establish and maintain good communication and working relationships with staff, end users, and others to ensure highest level of productivity and effectiveness.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in website development with .NET/C#
• At least 2 years’ experience using Optimizely (formerly Episerver)
• Experience with Aptify (Membership system and CRM) is a definite plus, but not required.
• Understanding of and detailed experience interacting with Microsoft SQL Server – multi-table querying, grouping, optimization, design.
• Good understanding of and experience using version control systems, such as Git.
• Experience managing Microsoft Azure resources and determining appropriate tools and levels for test and production subscriptions
• Solid knowledge and experience in programming applications.
• Proficient in .NET, C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, MS SQL.
• Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular
• Able to develop ideas and processes and clearly express them.
• Solid ability in both written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of programming language and technical terminology.
• High degree of independent judgment and able to solve complex problems.
• Dedicated team player.
• Genuinely excited about technology, have a strong interest in learning about and building compelling web applications and UIs with the latest technologies.
