YOUR SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a professional position under the Community Health Promotions Division and operates under the Registered Consultant for the Family Planning Prenatal Health program. This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.

 

Supervises direct reports including motivating, training, providing guidance, and direction. Supervises the work of care coordinators (nurses and counselors). Assigns plans and coordinates the workloads, work flows, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with employees. Directs the work of employees to ensure assignments are within the applicable classification and the best use of time and resources. Oversees the daily operations of the clinic, ensuring the delivery of high-quality prenatal and family planning services. This role involved managing staff, coordination patient care, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies. This position responsible for assisting the program manager in developing and implementing strategies to improve patient strategies to improve outcomes, enhance clinic efficiency, and support community health initiatives. the day-to-day operations of the Family Planning Prenatal Health clinics

 

Assures that all supervised staff i s utilizing electronic hea lth reco rd documentation to comply with state statutes and federal l guidelines. Coord inates contract management services for the Family Planning and Prenatal Health programs incl udin g the vasectomy services. Evaluates employees ut ili zing e stablished eva luat io n crite ria. Meeting quarterly / semiannually with emp loy ees to ensure their criteria are met.

 

Conducts staff meetings and traini ngs fo r OCHD Family Planning and Prenatal program st aff, one lo one conferences / evaluations as designated . Monito rs and ensures that self and direct repo r ts maintain clinical and administrative records (ears, travel , emergency response , etc .) . Ass u r es that the clien t comple t es the clien t satisfaction survey at each encounter .

 

Acts as a liaison between the DOH - Orange and other CHD's , DOH EHR, local hospitals , high risk OB , and community partners to ensure continuity of car e. Ass i sts with developing and advising nursing procedures. Assists in the creation of surveys . Assists in clinical studies and reports and part i cipates in planning and promoting a program of public health within an ass i gned area. Assists with budget maintenance.

 

Performs related duties as required including such activities as developing staff, mentors, coaches, motivates staff, individually and as a group; understands and supports diversity; and establishes an effective team. Supervises students, volunteers, or staff from other team units and supervises employees who work in different locations or telecommute/telework. 

 

Provides nursing support as needed at outreach/awareness and incident response events within the community to include: mass immunization, emergency response activities, and community health engagements. Nursing support may be required outside of normal business hours to accommodate community needs during evening and weekends hours.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • A current Florida Department of Health employee
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accedited college or university with a major in nursing.
  • A current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464 Florida Statutes or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with F.A.C. 210-6.27(in good standing).
  • One year of verifiable supervisory/management experience.
  • Professional experience in maternal child health, public health, or mental/behavioral nursing.
  • Two years verifiable professional experience with training case manager’s/care coordinators in a health care setting in methods of performing an effective and efficient job.
  • Two years of verifiable professional experience in formally assessing employee’s performance, motivating their growth and development, and with developing performance improvement plans.
  • A valid FL driver’s license or state identification card OR a valid driver’s license from another state (you will be required to get a FL driver license within 30 days of hire).
  • Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency? This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. Emergency duties may also include in-state and/or out-of-state deployment.
