Job Description

Physical Gas Trading Analyst

This entry level position is responsible for providing analytical support to the Natural Gas Trading desk within the marketing department, under direct supervision. Assists in providing information and insights regarding internal data from ETRM and other databases, customers, markets and competitors in order to measure performance and support business decisions. Emphasis on ability to collaborate with other internal stakeholders to help improve workflow, processes and outcomes.

Assists in performing statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data reported in the various financial systems, with specific emphasis on ETRM data and positional reporting to the trade desk

Conducts market research in order to analyze counterparties

Supports Marketing and other business units by assisting in the completion of competitive analysis and reporting

Prepare presentation materials to assist trading team decision making

Ensures accuracy of information provided and presented

Performs other duties as assigned

Basic understanding of revenue and expense accrual methodology

Intermediate knowledge of methods and principles related to the research and analysis of data

Basic knowledge of business principles involved in gas marketing and trading a plus

Basic knowledge and understanding of crude oil and gas pricing strategies and market alignments

Basic knowledge and understanding of industry operations and practices

Intermediate analytical and mathematical skills

Able to manage multiple data sources as necessary

Openness to use AI where applicable

Openness to learn new software applications and attend trainings when necessary

Advanced Microsoft Office suite of products knowledge

Basic understanding of Power BI and Snowlake a plus

Willingness to work in office

Ability to meet tight deadlines

Availability on nights and weekends

Minimum: High school diploma or GED

Preferred: Bachelor's degree - from accredited university - Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, MIS or related field

Minimum: 0 - 2 years related work experience

Minimum: Related work experience in energy markets, quantitative analysis, research or related analytical roles, or recent graduate with strong academic background in relevant field
