Job Details Overview:
- Join our prestigious law firm specializing in intellectual property law as a Patent Prosecution Attorney.
- Focus on drafting and prosecuting patent applications for computer hardware, software, and electronics inventions.
- Provide strategic legal counsel on patentability, infringement, validity, and freedom-to-operate.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO and international patent offices.
- Advise clients on patent matters and develop prosecution strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Manage patent portfolios, conduct portfolio analysis, and optimize patent protection strategies.
- Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and technical experts to understand inventions and assess patentability.
- Conduct prior art searches and analyze technical documents to support patentability assessments.
- Draft legal opinions, memoranda, and correspondence related to patent prosecution and IP matters.
- Conduct due diligence reviews of patents and intellectual property assets for transactions.
Qualifications:
- JD degree from an accredited law school; USPTO admission required.
- 8+ years of experience in patent prosecution, focusing on computer hardware, software, and electronics.
- Strong technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage a large patent prosecution docket effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
- Experience with patent litigation and/or licensing.
- Prior experience in an IP law firm.
