The Columbus Torah Academy in Columbus, Ohio ( is looking for a part time school nurse for the 2025-26 academic school year. (2 openings available)

Columbus Torah Academy, an independent K-12 Jewish day school accredited by ISACS, is located on the east side of Columbus on a private campus. CTA is an independent college preparatory school with approximately 220 students total. Approximately 30% of our student body qualifies for free or reduced fee lunch.

This position is from August 15 - June 10 with a few additional days in July to inventory the nurses’ clinic, begin reviewing vaccination records, and possibly ordering supplies. Once the school year begins, the nurse is not expected at school when school is closed. Monday - Thursday, school is open from 8:20-4:30pm, Fridays from 8:20-2pm. Roughly 4 times/year, the nurse might be asked to stay for an after school meeting.

Qualifications

• Current RN license (and ideally with experience in a school setting)
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
• Experience working with children ages 5-18
• Good communication skills with students, colleagues, and parents, including phone, email, and in-person
• Comfortable with basic computing skills, including Google Suite
• Ability to demonstrate a calm, caring demeanor when working with children
• Ability to assess and manage student illness and injury
• Ability to remain focused in the event of a medical emergency

The role would include:

• Standard clinical skills to dispense medications and treat minor ailments and injuries
• Conducting student hearing and vision screenings
• Educating students on hygiene and safety practices
• Dispensing prescription medications to students per physician instructions
• Verifying vaccination records
• Taking students’ temperatures when fever is suspected
• Contacting parents when students are ill or injured
• Collaborating with staff and serving as point person for lice checks when needed, sometimes working with an outside service provider

Physical requirements:

• Mobility demands include walking throughout the entire building to find or escort a student and responding quickly to emergencies that could occur outside on the playground or on the other side of the building.
• Possibly escorting class field trips if a student with medical condition is present
