Job Summary

Martin Commercial is seeking an experienced and strategic Business Development representative to drive growth, new partnerships and revenue expansion for our General Contracting business within the Southeastern US with a focus on Tampa, Dallas and Nashville markets. You will be responsible for the systematic expansion of our client network by introducing Martin to key stakeholders in the development and AEC community. This role involves developing market strategies, identifying new business opportunities, and cultivating relationships with Architects, Engineers and Developers. This role requires the continual solicitation of new clients through negotiated and bid list opportunities. This is a remote position with travel expected, as needed.

Key Responsibilities/Job Functions

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business growth strategy aligned with the company goals and objectives.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscapes.
  • Initiate, build and maintain long-term client relationships with Architects, Engineers, and Developers, understanding their needs and aligning our services accordingly.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans, ensuring revenue targets are met.
  • Generate a strong sales pipeline, identifying and engaging key decision-makers.
  • Oversee the creation of compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches to secure new business and bid opportunities.
  • Manage budgets and financial targets related to business development initiatives.
  • Represent Martin at industry events, conferences, trade shows, client meetings and networking opportunities to build brand recognition and establish new relationships.
  • Provide regular reports on business development activities, pipeline progress, and revenue generation to leadership.
  • Initiate in-person activities with key clients (dinners, lunches) to build relationships and gain industry news and information.
  • Ability to travel as needed for trade shows, industry conferences, bid pitches and client meetings.

Preferred Attributes

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field.
  • 3 or more years’ experience in business development, sales, or related field, preferably in the construction, general contracting or property development industries.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Strong networking abilities and a broad industry network.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and develop strategic plans.
  • Adept at working independently and remotely.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, CRM systems, sales tools, and analytics software.

Compensation: Salary + commission commensurate with experience
