PVPA has an opportunity for a Math Intervention Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. We are looking for a reflective practitioner who collaborates effectively with colleagues and understands the varied needs of students in grades 7-12. The ideal candidate will be a reflective practitioner who is interested in integrating the arts into the curriculum, teaching with a social justice lens, collaborating with students and colleagues, and has experience in implementing restorative practices in the classroom. This position will co-teach Algebra 1 and two sections of a tier three math intervention class. There is also opportunities to work with students outside of class time. Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum & Instruction, you will be responsible for:
* In addition to teaching classes, support students on math work during student study blocks. This may include creating mini-lessons and teaching students to review and revise math assignments.
* Use an anti-racist, anti-oppression framework to prepare curricula and instructional materials based on learning objectives.
* Plan curricula and prepare course expectations and materials.
* Supervise students during non-class time (ex: lunch) as required.
* Assess student work and provide timely feedback to students and parents via the PowerSchool online grading system.
* Apply PVPA standards based grading system to report on student course progress and achievement.
* Attend and participate in regular collaborative team meetings with faculty and school-wide professional development activities
* Attend and participate in meetings with students and/or parents as scheduled, including open house and parent-teacher conferences.
* Coordinate with special educators to address the diverse needs of all learners
* Other duties as required.
Qualifications;
The successful candidate will minimally hold a BA degree, be able to pass a background check (CORI/SORI & Fingerprinting) and be computer literate. Preferred qualifications include:
* Two or more years of experience teaching math, preferably Algebra 1, in a public or private school.
* Eligible for "Highly Qualified" teacher status (MA Certified or able to pass Communication & Literacy and Subject Matter MTEL exam within 1 year).
* Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement
* Experience with high school students
* Knowledge of discipline curriculum standards
* Interest or experience in the arts
Other Information/Instructions:
Salary Range: Full time $42,420 to $67,372 annually. Additional $1,000 stipend for individuals who hold a DESE license in subject area and potential for bonus at the end of the fiscal year.
2024-2025 school year consists of 180 school days plus 5 professional development/curriculum work days and a thirty-five hour work week that includes, on average, three class blocks per day of collaborative/independent work time.
