Job Description
Primarily responsible for programming PLCs, electrical maintenance repairs and installations, equipment troubleshooting and assisting with repairs. Complete duties in a safe, sanitary and efficient manner. An employee working in this area is expected to operate as a member of a team, which includes assisting one another as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities Programming
ï Install programs, or repair automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
ï Maintain integrity of the PLC automation servers and PLC processors.
ï Troubleshoot and modify ladder logic programs on Allen Bradley processors using RSLogix 500 and 5000 software
ï Develop a strategy for PLC automation support which includes training of operators
ï Responsible for integration of specialized hardware and software into manufacturing systems to enhance automation and control with an emphasis on efficiency.
Electrical
ï Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
ï Responsible for creating and maintaining effective electrical preventive maintenance procedures and schedules.
ï Maintain machinery, meeting maintenance requirements for 480-volt, 3 phase systems, and minimizing downtime will be necessary.
Troubleshooting
ï Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with fellow employees to diagnose problem or repair machine.
ï Support, troubleshoot, improve, and maintain high-speed production and packaging machinery.
Additional Responsibilities ï Maintains alarm systems.
ï Follows all department and plant SOPs and policies.
ï May be responsible for supporting mechanical projects throughout the plant
ï Assist team with general type work as needed.
ï Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements High School Diploma or GED required. Must have Journeyman Electrician Certification.
Previous Experience Requirement
• Must have a minimum of three years of experience working with, electrical controls systems, PLC’s and HMI programming
• Previous experience troubleshooting and programming PLC ladder logic
• Previous electrical experience voltages ranging from 24v to 480v 3 phase
• Experience troubleshooting AC/DC drives and high-speed computer controlled production machinery
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints.
• Experience installing conduit and pulling wire to code.
Knowledge and Skills Needed to Perform Effectively in this Position
ï Knowledge of control circuitry, PLC’s and Programming also have the ability to analyze and troubleshoot control circuits of complex design.
ï Knowledge of the proper use of a multimeter.
ï Knowledge of current safety policies and machine directives like NFPA, OSHA regulations, and industrial processes.
ï Familiar with standard communication protocols, (Ethernet IP, Sercos, Ethercat, and Powerlink) concepts, practices, and procedures related to the motion automation field.
ï Ability to understand and perform basic math calculations.
ï Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures.
ï Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, diagrams and equipment specifications is required.
ï Ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of a machine issue.
ï Work independently with minimal supervision.
ï Effective written and oral communication skills.
ï Effective analytical/problem solving skills.
ï Effective organization and planning skills.
