General Statement This position facilitates learning for students enrolled in any of the Mathematics courses. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of strong commitment to student success, equity in college Mathematics education, and academic experience in Mathematics.
The full-time workload for this position may take place in Worcester, Southbridge, or any another QCC instructional location.
Supervision Received The full-time faculty member reports to the Dean of the School of Math, Science, and Engineering.
Supervision Exercised The full-time faculty member exercises supervision over personnel assigned to them.
- Teach a range of mathematics courses including developmental mathematics, algebra, statistics, trigonometry, calculus, and differential equations.
- Provide classroom, laboratory and/or team-teaching instruction and facilitate individualized and non-traditional approaches to learning as appropriate.
- Develop and/or revise instructional materials with other faculty members.
- Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students of varying learning styles and abilities.
- Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize the learning process and measure student learning outcomes.
- Actively participate in ongoing curriculum & program review.
- Conduct academic advising and assistance of students.
- Participate in college service activities in concert with the provisions of the MCCC Agreement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Minimal Qualifications
- Master's degree in mathematics
- At least 5 years teaching mathematics at the collegiate level.
- Three years of experience as an Assistant Professor at the an accredited community college.
- Dual English/Spanish language speaker
- Experience teaching bilingual math courses in Spanish and English
- Experience teaching corequisite mathematics courses
- At least 3 years experience advising students at the collegiate level Documented evidence of teaching a wide range of Mathematics courses, including Statistics.
- Demonstrated experience in using technology in the teaching of Math.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of a college-wide Learning Management System (LMS).
- Experience teaching online mathematics curriculum
- Well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges, their students and philosophy.
- Evidence of understanding of and appreciation for diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion and equity.
- Predisposition to working in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork.
- Strong evidence of passionate commitment to striving for excellence in working with students, faculty, and staff and in responding to opportunities that extend the Mission of the College.
