Pride Health is hiring a Forensic Lab Supervisor – Quality Control to support our client’s medical facility in Lenexa KS 66219 This is a 5-month assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity, and it's a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Job Title: Forensic Lab Supervisor

Location: Lenexa KS 66219

Pay Range: $25-$31 per hour

Schedule: 6:30am - 2:30pm EST

Duration: 5 Months+

Basic Purpose:

This position is responsible for providing technical oversight and supervision of non-exempt laboratory personnel across multiple shifts. The role involves directing daily activities, managing workflow, and ensuring coordination between laboratory departments to maintain operational efficiency and quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate full proficiency in all principal duties of Forensic Scientist I, II, III , and Group Lead .
  2. Supervise and oversee staff activities within the department—assigning work, setting priorities, and scheduling non-routine procedures.
  3. Manage personnel-related functions including hiring, training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and terminations .
  4. Initiate and monitor quality control measures , ensuring adherence to laboratory standards.
  5. Perform forensic scientist duties as needed to cover absences or manage peak workloads.
  6. Lead the planning and implementation of new instruments, methods, corrective actions, and SOP updates.
  7. Prepare staff for federal, CAP, and state inspections .
  8. Oversee the annual competency testing process and related documentation for the department.
  9. Collaborate professionally with interdepartmental teams and participate in leadership meetings with laboratory management.
  10. Maintain effective communication with department staff across all shifts.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned by managers, directors, or responsible persons (RPs).

Supervision Exercised:

Provides direct supervision and technical guidance to non-exempt laboratory personnel across assigned shifts.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biological Science, or a related field .
  • Candidates with non-related BS/BA degrees must have completed at least:
  • 16 semester hours in Chemistry ,
  • 16 semester hours in Biology , and
  • 3 semester hours in Mathematics ,
  • or as otherwise required by applicable regulations.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years of laboratory experience for candidates with a Medical Technology degree, or 7 years for those with a BS/BA.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a SAMHSA-certified laboratory is required.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to perform routine, repetitive motions (e.g., pipetting).
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods .

Other Requirements:

  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple procedures simultaneously , including instrument troubleshooting.
  • Strong organizational skills for scheduling and resource management to meet departmental goals.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with internal teams and external clients.
