Job Description

Job Description

Meet Vanderbloemen

Vanderbloemen serves churches, schools, nonprofits, and Christian businesses through innovative staffing, compensation, succession, and consulting solutions. Founded in 2010 by William and Adrienne Vanderbloemen, the company was started out of a deep passion for local churches that would have pastoral vacancies for years, thus minimizing their effectiveness in their communities. After pastoring for 15 years and then working as a corporate Executive Search Consultant, William believed there was a better way to help churches move through this transition. Vanderbloemen now has over 30 employees working for the firm. We have successfully completed more than 3,000 searches in 49 of the 50 states in the U.S. and eight countries around the world. While Vanderbloemen can staff any position at any size organization, the bulk of our work is made up of searches for senior-level staff.

Searches involving Senior Pastor succession are an area of particular expertise. In addition to search work, the firm also provides services in staff consulting, succession planning, diversity consulting, and compensation analysis.

About the Recruiting Team

The Recruiting Team serves as the organizational backbone for candidate evaluation, communication, and research at the firm. Executive Search Recruiters interface with hundreds of candidates each week, maintaining relationships via email, text, phone, Zoom, and occasionally in person. Prompt, courteous, and thoughtful responses to candidates are of the utmost importance to the work and reputation of our firm.

In addition to communication with candidates, the primary goal of the Recruiting Team is to support the live searches of our Executive Search Consultants. This includes, but is not limited to, candidate coordination, resume evaluation, phone interviews, internal and external research, sourcing, and providing general operational support. The Recruiting Team is highly collaborative, so the successful candidate will be a team player and can work in a social and often distracting environment.

About the Role

The primary focus of this role is to recruit highly sought-after candidates for Vanderbloemen’s clients. They do so by sourcing, recruiting, and evaluating candidates using search-specific criteria. After processing and interviewing candidates over the phone, they recommend high-potential candidates to Search Consultants for further review.

The Executive Search Recruiter’s responsibilities include:

  • Project Management
  • Candidate Recruiting
  • Thoughtful and Prompt Email Communication
  • Resume Evaluation
  • Phone Interviews
  • Candidate Coordination
  • Other Duties as Assigned

What you bring

Education

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required, and Seminary training is a plus but not required. While graduate-level theological training is not required, an understanding of different theological positions and denominational differences is required.

Experience/Skills

An Executive Search Recruiter must have an entrepreneurial spirit and be a systematic worker. Successful candidates will have experience working or volunteering in a church or parachurch organization. Proven experience in creative thinking, problem-solving, and organizational development are important for one’s success in this role.

Personal Characteristics

  • Passionate about the church and its mission, including those churches that might differ from personal theology.
  • Joyful in serving all churches, all denominations, and all styles of worship and theology.
  • Self-starter who is strongly motivated and shows initiative.
  • Exhibits a spirit of flexibility and is very willing to accept and lead through change.
  • Exudes a strong relational personality to potential clients.
  • A demonstrated high level of integrity, guided by a sound set of moral principles.
  • A chemistry that “fits” with Vanderbloemen’s ethos and culture.
  • A strong work ethic and high energy.
  • A team player and team builder who focuses on the good of the entire organization and can inspire others to work together to achieve organizational excellence.
