Description EHS Coordinator
Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for an Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator in our Turners Falls, MA manufacturing facility. The EHS Coordinator is responsible for implementing and overseeing environmental health and safety policies to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role involves conducting workplace and equipment inspections, coordinating safety training, and monitoring regulatory compliance. The EHS Coordinator may also manage hazardous materials and support the EH&S Manager as needed.
Starting Rate: $23.79/hour; M-F 8am -5pm
Job Duties:
- Coordinate and implement comprehensive workplace safety programs, including environmental health policies, to ensure a safe working environment.
- Complete regular inspections of the workplace and equipment to identify and mitigate risks.
- Deliver occupational safety training to employees, fostering comprehension and compliance with safety protocols, as well as adherence to environmental regulations and standards
- Monitor and ensure compliance with occupational safety and environmental regulations.
- Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated; maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements.
- Implement workplace safety programs (i.e., shoe reimbursement and prescription safety glasses) and coordinate occupational safety training for employees.
- Manage the handling and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
- Compile and organize data for the creation of comprehensive reports on environmental health and safety metrics, and manage the submission of other safety-related documents.
- Assist with maintaining the Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures.
- Engage in environmental meetings to contribute to discussions and decision-making processes regarding health and safety initiatives.
- Serve as a backup to the EH&S Manager when required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- 1 to 3 years of an environmental role or internship in an environmental role
- Experience working in manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Relevant certifications in EHS management and compliance are preferred.
- Experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing or industrial setting is highly desirable.
- Proven project management skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Intense desire for continuous improvement and efficiency in safety processes.
- Excellent communication and training abilities, with a high degree of technological competency.
- Ability to work independently or on teams on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong technical writing skills, including document creation and promulgation, with intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency.
- Broad awareness of OSHA Section 5 safety programs, encompassing areas such as PIVs, hearing and respiratory protection, confined space, hot work, emergency response, hoist/crane safety, interlocks, hazard analysis, machine guarding, LOTO, PPE, HAZCOM, electrical, security, and fall protection.
- Knowledge of in EPA/Mass DEP regulations and reporting, including hazardous waste, radiation, SPCC, RCRA, HAZmat DOT, SWPPP, PFas, and adapt to regulatory updates.
- Established knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO14001 standards, including auditing and corrective action processes.
- Basic understanding of Continuous Improvement methodologies, including "Lean Manufacturing" concepts like 5-S/Visual Factory and tools such as 5 Whys, Flow Charts, Spaghetti Diagrams, and Numeric Selection techniques.
