What we are looking for: We are looking for a motivated, bright, and talented Environmental Geologist or Scientist to join our company in our Butte, Montana office. What you will be doing at Woodard & Curran: - An Environmental Scientist or Geologist is typically assigned specific tasks on project teams and is expected to use their knowledge to resolve the problems and tasks they are assigned under the mentorship of senior staff. Fieldwork, data management, report writing and interaction with project staff will play an important role in the candidate's success. Potential assignments in this role may include:
- Collecting samples of soil, groundwater, and other environmental media in support of site investigation and remediation objectives.
- Installing monitoring wells, performing remediation monitoring and overseeing contractors.
- Assist field investigations and provide construction oversight by following safety policies and a thorough understanding of specifications and thorough documentation of contractor activities and safety procedures.
- Assisting in the preparation of various regulatory submittals, technical memorandums, and/or engineering design reports.
- Managing, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting data for use in reports and other visualizations including maps, charts, and 3D models.
- Candidate should be a self-starter and possess strong technical fieldwork and writing skills to support a wide range of science and engineering projects. A successful candidate will also be detail-oriented, have excellent verbal communication skills combined with a positive attitude, and ability to work both independently and within teams.
What you will need to succeed: - Bachelor's degree in geology, environmental science, or related field from an accredited program. M.S. preferred.
- 0-3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working around construction equipment and/or in a construction environment is a plus.
- Familiarity with and a working knowledge of CERCLA, strongly preferred
- Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, ArcGIS, CAD, or database software preferred.
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in the development and implementation of project work plans, schedules, and budgets is a plus.
- Some surveying experience is a plus.
- Experience with programming languages is a plus (preferably Python, R, and/or SQL).
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training is a plus, but will train.
$50,000 - $55,000 a year
This position's anticipated pay range is provided below; final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will be dependent on experience level as well as considering a % based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials are used to recognize and reflect cost of labor differences between geographic markets.
