Job Description
Summary: Dock Workers are shipping and receiving personnel for the newspaper distribution operation of the Circulation department. They work with employees and contractors in an effort to receive bundles of newspapers and assist with distributing them to delivery personnel.
What you will do: - Verify that all products are loaded accurately on trucks (i.e. quantity and packages #'s)
- Confirm quality and integrity of all products loaded on trucks
- Ensure parts are staged at their respective staging areas for oncoming shifts
- Communicate with the Team Leader any outstanding issues
- Maintain constant communication with all other departments to ensure product flow
- Navigate and search inventory balances
- Utilize SAM to locate product and identify quantity of product
- Close out trucks when all products are loaded and double check the staging areas (i.e. toppers, bags, etc.)
- Runs reports from SAM
- Interacts professionally with Drivers and employees throughout the company
- Breaks down gaylords/waste containers for recycling programs
- Assists with the loading, weighing, and receiving of all waste products from the DC network
What you will bring: - Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and/or holidays
- Must be a certified forklift/Rider Mule operator
- Patience, understanding, and good people skills
- Outcome oriented and excellence seeking
- Must have strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent
Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift 30-50 pounds
- Ability to utilize all equipment involved with loading and unloading products
- Requires working in an office/warehouse environment and outdoors at various temperatures
