Job Title: Data Systems Administrator

Location: 502 S. 2nd St., Howlett Bldg. Springfield, IL – Sangamon County
Salary: Starting salary $6,769.00 monthly - Commensurate with experience.
Overview: Establishes and oversees data management, data governance, data lineage, and data stewardship capabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Oversee the creation of a centralized data repository, ensuring easy access and analysis capabilities for all state departments. Is responsible for the transition to a cloud-based storage solution, promoting efficiency, scalability, and security. Sets and enforces guidelines for secure and streamlined data sharing between different state departments. Implements robust backup solutions and ensure multiple copies of data are maintained to prevent data loss. Sets periodic backup schedules in accordance with agency-wide policy, considering the varying criticality of data sets through their lifecycle. Enforces data retention policies and archival strategies in line with data governance standards, ensuring obsolete data is safely purged or archived.
- Ensures all data projects and initiatives directly support the state's mission and objectives. Promotes and facilitates collaborations between agencies to maximize the utility of collected data. Champions the use of data in decision-making processes across all state departments, emphasizing accuracy and insight
- Designs and implements clear procedures for timely identification, response, and communication in the event of a data breach. Spearheads training initiatives to enhance the staff's understanding of data privacy regulations and best practices.
- Completes necessary education, training and certifications to stay abreast of latest technologies effecting Illinois Secretary of State information security. Travels as necessary for education and meetings.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience: Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years college preferably with courses in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or statistics supplemented by a master's degree in computer science or a related field and two years of managerial experience in a computer-based management information system.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Requires thorough knowledge of management information system, data base administration, systems analysis and computer communication systems.
- Requires thorough knowledge of the principles of organization, management and administration.
- Requires extensive knowledge of research and statistical procedures, program budgeting and systems modeling.
- Requires ability to implement program evaluations or system assurance.
- Requires ability to anticipate and resolve managerial problems.
- Requires willingness to travel and possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license as required by individual positions within the class.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, and push/pull 0 – 50lbs.
