Data Fellowship Job Details Job Location #DegreesNYC - New York, NY Position Type Internship Salary Range $16.00 - $16.00 Hourly Description Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. We are two of New York City’s leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children, youth and families, homeless individuals, and older adults through-out Manhattan and New York City. Program Description:#DegreesNYC is a collective action initiative supported by Goddard Riverside Options Center, aiming to promote educational equity throughout NYC by working with youth leaders and education professionals. Through coalition building, collective action, and data, #DegreesNYC works to reimagine education and promote student-ready campuses. Purpose of Position:Data Fellows will work alongside #DegreesNYC and the Research Alliance for NYC to design an facilitate focus groups that aim to identify what resources high school and college students need to thrive academically and determine what qualities make a school “student-ready” based on the #DegreesNYC Policy Agenda. At the end of this fellowship, Data Fellows will share data pertaining to the postsecondary pipeline with youth advocates and education professionals. Schedule: Up to 10 hours per week Hourly Rate:$16.00 Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties Support the Research Alliance for NYC Schools to collect wholistic qualitative data on education equity in the K-16 NYC school system Attend #DegreesNYC Orientation Participate in a qualitative data-collection training session Design interview questions for youth-led focus groups based on accessibility, inclusivity, and justice Recruit NYC students to participate in focus groups on Student Ready Schools, Campuses, and Organizations Lead focus groups with high school and college student participants Analyze focus group data and share research findings that support the #DegreesNYC Policy Agenda Attend #DegreesNYC monthly Data Co-op Work Group meetings and represent the youth voiceu Attend weekly meetings with members of the Research Alliance and #DegreesNYC Opportunity to provide personal testimony for #DegreesNYC campaigns Qualifications Be a current NYC high school sophomore - college student Excellent communication skills Interested in youth advocacy/empowerment Able to commit to working 5 hours a week Access to Wifi and a computer Community organizing and political activism experience is a plus Work Environment Office Remotely Goddard Riverside and Isaacs Center are equal opportunity employers and considers applicants for all positions without regard to race, color, religion, creed, gender, national origin, age, disability, marital or veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other legally protected status.
