Highlight Health is a fast-growing startup with offices in Old City Philadelphia, PA and Newark, NJ. We’re on a mission to fight against high-cost hospital bills and make healthcare more transparent and fairer to everyone. We use data-driven methods and innovative technology to identify and eliminate fraud, waste, abuse, and overpricing in the healthcare industry.
Highlight Health offers a collaborative environment that fosters your learning and development. You will be encouraged to bring your ideas to the table, and you will find that your suggestions are valued as we strive to continually enhance our healthcare claims data processes. As a Data Analyst Intern, you will be entrusted with important responsibilities that directly contribute to those processes. You will be exposed to new systems as we expand our technical capabilities. You will be given a platform to make meaningful contributions while gaining valuable technical experience. And you will have the opportunity for long-term career growth; Highlight Health aims to extend our summer interns into the school year and later transition the right candidates into full-time positions.
As a Data Analyst Intern, one of your primary tasks will be to share responsibility for our healthcare claim data intake process. This task is crucial for the initiation of our claim data analysis, as it sets the foundation for all subsequent data handling and processing activities. In this role, you will engage deeply with the data flow, where you will have the opportunity to analyze, improve, and automate its various components. This includes working with our AI-based Optical Character Recognition (OCR) systems, Python parser codes, export scripts, and database management. Through these activities, you will gain hands-on experience in optimizing and enhancing the efficiency of our data processing pipelines while using your knowledge in Python, R and MySQL.
In addition to data automation, you will play a vital role in data cleanup efforts. Ensuring that our processes are well-documented and easily understood by other team members is critical for maintaining consistency and accuracy in our operations. Your contributions to documenting workflows and cleaning up data will support the smooth operation of our systems and improve the overall quality of our data outputs.
