Are you ready to take on a dynamic role in a chemical/petrochemical plant where your skills and expertise will make a significant impact on plant operations? We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as a Chemical Plant Operator.

As a Chemical Plant Operator, you will play a crucial role in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of instrumentation, mechanical, and electrical equipment. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the startup, operation, and shutdown of plant equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and rectify issues with instrumentation, mechanical, and electrical equipment, including the process demonstration unit, pumps, and auxiliary components.
  • Assist in the startup, operation, and shutdown of plant equipment, adhering to safety and environmental regulations to ensure the well-being of employees and public safety.
  • Work under the guidance of Plant Management and Shift Supervisor, providing recommendations and input for the efficient operation of all plant systems and achieving performance goals.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the feed and melt system, reactor, regenerator, main column, and other plant systems outside the control room.
  • Execute startup, operation, and shutdown procedures following approved plant protocols, technical manuals, and directions from the Control Room Operator.
  • Monitor and adjust local operating parameters to maintain safe and efficient plant operation.
  • Support Board Operators in operating the facility with minimal guidance, competently handling plant equipment.
  • Operate plant equipment locally through PLC panel interfaces.
  • Conduct visual and auditory equipment inspections at regular intervals, identifying malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Monitor air and water emissions, taking corrective actions to maintain levels within acceptable limits.
  • Identify, report, troubleshoot, and rectify situations that may lead to operational problems or safety hazards.
  • Respond to chemical spills and leaks according to plant emergency response plans.
  • Operate and maintain equipment directed by the Board Operator for safe and efficient plant operation.
  • Obtain turnover from the Field Operator being relieved, including special orders and unusual operating conditions.
  • Review operating logs, inspect plant equipment, controls, and indications.
  • Conduct tests on critical plant systems and equipment, such as lube oil pumps, turbine valves, turbine system trips, and boiler trips.
  • Test and operate plant fire and chemical safety equipment as directed.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions, as well as operate on-site vehicles as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in chemical/petrochemical plant startup, operation, and shutdown, including manual plant operation.
  • Knowledge and experience in the practical application of equipment isolation and tagging procedures.
  • Experience responding to plant abnormal situations, alarms, and emergencies.
  • Experience in Environmental Protection, including knowledge of plant systems, equipment, limits, and regulatory reporting requirements.
