Job Description The Department of Political Science at Ohio University invites applications for a renewable Assistant Professor of Instruction (non-tenure-track) position in Law and Politics with a specialization in gender and/or LGBTQ+ issues to start in Fall 2025. This position is renewable annually depending upon available funding, performance, and continuing departmental need. The candidate will provide teaching and service support to the department and the Center for Law, Justice, and Culture (CLJC) and will teach courses that will include Introduction to U.S. Politics, Civil Liberties, and upper-level courses in their area of specialization.
We seek candidates who have a strong background in Public Law or Law and Society who share the department's commitment to inclusion and teaching excellence.
The standard course workload for instructional faculty in Political Science is 4-4. Instructional faculty at Ohio University may be eligible for promotion and multi-year contracts based on periodic performance evaluations and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field and will have demonstrated teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with innovative teaching pedagogy, interdisciplinary curriculum, or leadership in interdepartmental programming is an asset.
