The Assistant Director of Athletic Operations is a member of the LIU Athletics Operations teamand manages day-to-day operations for designated sports within Long Island University Athletics. Under thegeneral direction of the Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Operations, the Assistant Director of AthleticOperations helps with the planning, preparation, and execution of game/event operations as well as dailysupport for various athletic facilities. Duties and Responsibilities: • Assist with the event/game management responsibilities for all home events/sports. • Perform all necessary responsibilities as the primary or secondary event manager during home athleticevents. • Coordination of venue setup and conversions. • Provide daily support for the operation and upkeep of the various athletic facilities, including workorder management/tracking and communication with coaches and University facilities staff. • Assist with various facility projects and other special projects as assigned. • Responsible for the supervision, training and assignment of work to student game staff. • Responsible for assisting in the staging of events and coordinating the use of all athletic facilitiesincluding University and non-departmental organizations, when feasible. • Represents LIU Athletics to other universities, external offices and agencies. • Establishes and enforces operating procedures; recommends and implements improvements togame/event operations. • Responsible for remaining current and ensuring compliance with all applicable University, Conferenceand NCAA rules and regulations. • Assists in the event management of post season home athletic tournaments and championships. • Works and communicates effectively with coaches on various issues and event management. •Works with and communicates effectively with university facility and public safety managers for eventmanagement set-ups, maintenance, and facilities staff usage. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) • One-to-two years of full-time experience working in collegiate or professional Athletic operations. • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to plan, establish priorities and successfullymanage multiple priority projects. • Proven ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relations. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Commitment to academic and athletic success. • Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions. • Dedication and motivation to initiate, lead and support value added projects. • Self-motivated, results-oriented, with a positive demeanor. • Must have a valid driver’s license. • Knowledge of NCAA and designated conference rules and compliance practices.
