We continue to grow and our Accounting & Management Outsourcing Services (AMO) team is looking for a Payroll Specialist to work part time 20 hours per week (4 hours per day, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 am – 5pm CT). After an initial training period, the Payroll Specialist may work a hybrid schedule with a minimum of two days per week in our White Bear Lake office.

Responsibilities:

  • Process timely and accurate weekly and biweekly payrolls including new hires, terminations, and pay/benefit changes.
  • Process supplemental and off-cycle payrolls such as separations and corrections.
  • Prepare quarterly/annual payroll tax returns and W-2s.
  • Ensure all local, state, and federal governmental requirements are met, including taxes and withholdings.
  • Prepare payroll journal entries to record into accounting software.
  • Manage 401k activities and interact with 401k provider to ensure proper handling of employees’ payroll contributions, loan repayments, and contribution changes.
  • Establish strong and trusting client relationships by providing accurate and timely service.
  • Implement new regulations and policies and changes to benefits, as applicable to payroll.
  • Recommend and implement efficiencies to improve payroll processing and employee satisfaction.
  • Identify and implement process modifications based on changes in rules, regulations, and emerging issues and trends.

The successful candidate must have:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in payroll processing
  • Understanding of federal and state payroll tax regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities
  • FPC or CPP certification preferred
